The new transport link between royal victoria docks and and the greenwich peninsular is taking shape. It is hoped that it will be completed by  summer in time for the London 2012 Olympics. A lot of visible progress has been made at the constructions sites which makes  the deadline seem achievable. From outside the North Greenwich construction site you can see the mechanism that will feed the cable for the emirates air line.

About time…

I know, I have not written a post for months, not even a peep. What have I been up to? Well quite a lot actually. Although missing RBS, I have enjoyed working freelance in the past months doing work for United Biscuits, Microsoft and some smaller companies. I have a new bicycle which I absolutely adore, even named her Francesca! Will detail my bike in a seperate post. Other higlights have been, seeing the Nokia Lumia a day before it was announced at NOKIA Worldand discovering the thames cycle route.

Theres a lot for me to blog about and upload. My portfolio will be uploaded, photos of my bike and the thames cycle route will be uploaded. Video reviews of phone apps including the absolutely brilliant ffffound app by RogueCode, the new Ocado app and city travel London by Martin Anderson, Michael Josiah and Levente Mihály.

I also have new Windows Phone wallpapers to share. One especially fitting for our current times, another one quite eerie looking. Oh and last but not least I am currently reader Halo Cryptum on my Kindle App, I am being pulled deeper in the the universe of halo. It is mind boggling to think that this story takes places millenias before the events of “halo”.

Ps, for Christmas i will be MIA, or should i say in MIA and NYK. Will take all my lenses with me and my fish eye!

Idea: Windows Phone Xbox Live Games on The Xbox Dashboard

With the new Xbox Dashboard on it’s way next month that introduces Bing, Youtube and many more features Like Xbox Live TV, there is a lot to get excited about.

However as I was doing some design work, whereby I am incorporating QR codes into a project (wanted to you Microsoft Tag but the client is your master, designers must listen to their clients), I suddenly had a bright idea involving Microsoft Tag. In fact it was involving Microsoft Tag, Xbox 360 and The Windows Phone. Microsoft has a struggle on their hands in terms of awareness of this beautiful smartphone platform. Windows Phone is the most beautifully designed OS, smoothest and fastest (faster than dual core android phones when it comes to powering web browsing and scrolling – imagine what will happen when windows phone gets dual core?). It is also a smartphone that puts people first by being awesomely connecting to your friends via Facebook, linked-in and Twitter. The problem is many people don’t know about Windows Phone. Any way that Microsoft can raise awareness of their phone should be pursued. Thats where my idea comes in.

My idea centres around allowing people who use the XBOX 360 to become aware of the Windows Phone line of smart-phones. My idea is one which allows people to browse the Game marketplace on the xbox for WIndows Phone Xbox Live Games very much in the same way that they can browse Indie games, arcade games and Games on demand titles.

There should be a section for Xbox Live Windows Phones that you can browse through, search through and discover. When the user sees a Game, they can get it on their phone by using Bing Vision and scanning a Microsoft Tag. This Tag links directly to the Zune Marketplace and the Game which the user simply touches install on their phone to complete the process. This seamless interaction between the windows phone and the xbox is another step to bringing these devices closer. Friends and family can witness these interactions, and non Windows Phone owners can witness these sections on the xbox. They will be able to see that the Windows Phone is the only Phone platform to have Xbox Live, that has your animated avatar and has Games that have achievements.

So I informed Major nelson, Microsoft Tag team and AceyBongo of my idea on twitter:

One thing I love about Microsoft is they listen to their customers and they engage with them. To further this idea I have also submitted it to the Windows Phone User voice site. User voice is a website where you can submit ideas and vote on ideas. So please support this idea. In addition to interacting and controlling our xbox with the upcoming companion app, my idea gives something back to the phone where the xbox delivers content to your smartphone. A lovely two way street!

Infographic – Skype

Came across this lovely Infor graphic from Skype today.

Love how clean and beautiful it looks, another example of how ”information is beautiful”

xbox – becoming metro

In the past few weeks, the Xbox has been preparing to go metro for its upcoming dashboard update that is now rumoured to be on November 25. The xbox.com website is all ready for the transition with its clean lines. On the xbox itself though, you may have noticed this:

As you can see the arcade games have a new metro look. this should look great on the new xbox dashboard and on the companion app. It looks good now, on the current dashboard.

it is not only arcade games that have recieved the new look, recent indie games also sport the new banner.
