I have begun a new project at the London College of Communication which involves us to individualy research brainstorm and finally come up with a social media project that will be provided by Orange UK to their customers or to both non customers and customers of my own age group between 18-30. In a way that Orange UK have Orange wednesday’s which feels more like giving something away we are not restricted to create something that generates money however we can come up with an idea that has a direct revenue. What is important is that the product or service should attempt to help Orange gain more customers or build on the mobile networks reputation as another great service that they offer.
The briefing was attended by Orange Uk Service Development Manager, Steve Brown and our tutor David Simms. We were shown Videos discussing the power of the internet, its uses, what it enables us to do, the big movers and shakers, how advertising pays and works etc.
Over the following weeks I will be carrying out research to find out what is relevent to people between 18-30. How they use their mobile devices, how they communicate, what influences their decisions when it comes to choosing a tarriff or network. Also I will be exploring Orange UK existing portfolio of services and seeing which of those could be intergrated or combined as part of a new servie.
I will be looking at the current trends, latest mobiles like the Nexus One and other Android Phones, like the HD2 and Sony Experia and other Windows Phones, and the Iphone 3GS and other Iphones/Ipod Touches. Dumb phones as the industry insiders call them like Nokias and others will be considered, blackberrys…Orange offer broadband so laptops could be a platform for the social media product. There are a whole raft of things I want to look at.
Keep up to date with this product via this page which will show only and all orange UK updates on my blog. Or subscribe using this exclusive “Orange UK project RSS feed” ![]()
This project is a student Work Based Learning project, it is not a real live project commissioned by Orange and no part of this project will result in an actual Orange Product
